CINCINNATI (AP): The Cincinnati-based Frisch’s Big Boy Restaurants regional chain has named an industry veteran to take over as chief executive officer.

Jason Vaughn comes from Memphis-based Lenny’s Subs, where he was president and chief operations. He also has been an executive at Wendy’s and Yum! Brands.

Atlanta-based private equity firm NRD Capital obtained Frisch’s last year in $175 million acquisition that ended family operation of the business dating to a 1939 drive-thru.

Frisch’s says Vaughn was hired after a seven-month national search and became CEO on Thursday.

Frisch’s says it operates 95 Big Boy restaurants and franchises another 25 in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. That includes the Big Boy in Waynedale as well as Frisch’s-titled restaurants in Napoleon and Defiance, Ohio.
