Gas Prices Are Going Up in Fort Wayne

Some stations have already raised their prices over 20 cents per gallon (from GasBuddy Android app)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): If you haven't filled up your tank, you may want to before they jump up to nearly 3 dollars a gallon by the end of Thursday.

That's because gas prices are shooting up 20 to 25 cents per gallon, depending on where you are. The reason is because a surprisingly low report of oil inventory has sent oil prices on Wall Street upwards of 4 dollars a gallon this week alone.

GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan says there's a reason for the low inventory. “Oil producers are not really enticed to produce as much oil when they're getting $40 less a barrel than they were this time last year” DeHaan told WOWO news.

DeHaan also says a few refineries in the Great Lakes region are down for maintenance, which is also having a negative effect on prices.
