Gender Pay-Gap Lingers in Northeast Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A new report reveals there is still a gender pay-gap among businesses in northeast Indiana.

Northeast Indiana Works issued their April Labor Market Information Report, finding that men earn considerably more than women with equal schooling.

Ironically, those findings are similar to national figures, where men earn significantly more than women while working in the same field.

According to the Census Bureau, females actually lost ground between the second quarter of 2010 and 2014. Industry sectors such as Architecture and Engineering saw the biggest difference in pay, with male employees averaging a $67,000 a year, while females averaged nearly $46,000 a year- a $21,000 difference

In northeast Indiana, 34 percent of women worked part-time, while only 16 percent of men were employed part-time.
