ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – The Indiana Department of Health reports a human case of West Nile virus in Allen County.
The virus has also been detected in mosquito pools across more than 30 Indiana counties since testing began in July.
Health officials say the risk remains while temperatures stay above 60 degrees.
Hoosiers are advised to use DEET-containing insect repellent and eliminate standing water around their homes.

Fun fact: West Nile virus, is aptly named after the West Nile district in Uganda, where scientists first isolated the virus in 1937.
Now, how do we irradicate it, having known about it for the last 89 years?
Answering My Own Question Fact: Dragonflies, Mosquitofish, Bats and Barn Swallow/Purple Martins are not mosquito friendly.
Fun Fact #2: These aforementioned critters are categorised as ‘Aerial Insectivores’. 🤓
So i am thinking.. we need to raise billions of each Aerial Insectivore 🤓, train them only to eat the Mosquito egg, larvae, pupa and adults, then upon graduation.. release them all across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio!
