Government Shutdown Felt Around Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): The partial government shutdown is sending hundreds of workers at northern Indiana bases home without pay. National park workers in the state are also getting furloughs.

At Fort Wayne's Air National Guard base about 200 airmen have been sent home. Another 600 civilian employees and Air Force reservists at the Grissom Air Reserve Base were furloughed today after Congress failed to break a budget impasse.

In the state, about 12,000 Air National Guard members have been impacted.

The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is closed and 50 staffers are furloughed, but police and fire staff aren't affected.

The Hoosier National Forest has starting shuttering its campgrounds at the 200,000-acre southern Indiana forest and 45 staffers are now furloughed.
