INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Wednesday afternoon, Governor Mike Pence accepted the resignation of his chief of staff and long-time adviser, Bill Smith.
Smith is leaving to form a public affairs and strategic communications firm, which is anticipated to work with the Governor’s campaign and other clients.
In his letter of resignation Smith told the governor it had been an honor “serving you and the people of Indiana.” He also described the Governor’s staff as “an outstanding group of public servants.”
“Bill Smith's contributions since the outset of our administration have been incalculable and I will always be grateful for his tireless service to the state of Indiana. His integrity and strong leadership as director of our transition team and then as my chief of staff contributed significantly to our success. Bill Smith made a difference for the people of Indiana,” said Governor Pence. “We wish him well in his new endeavor and look forward to working with him often in his new capacity.”
