MARION, Ind. (WOWO): A Grant County civilian jail officer was arrested after he was accused of bringing contraband into the Grant County Jail.

Christopher John Michael Black, 26, of Marion, was arrested by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday.

Deputies received a tip late last month that Black was bringing contraband into the jail in exchange for money. Early Thursday morning, deputies say they observed Black retrieve a package with a baggy substance and then give it to an inmate. However, deputies say that a controlled substance or dangerous substance did not enter the jail.

He is now facing charges of conspiracy traffic with an inmate and conspiracy to deal in methamphetamine over 10 grams. He is held on a $200,000 bond in the Miami County Jail.

Black has served as a jail officer since August of 2017.
