Greenfield Woman who Fatally Shot Husband Kills Self

GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a central Indiana woman who evaded prosecution after fatally shooting her suicidal husband has committed suicide herself.

Roberts was freed from jail Oct. 3 after Hancock County Prosecutor Michael Griffin declined to prosecute her for fatally shooting her husband, 57-year-old Gary Roberts, before he could open fire on police. Griffin said then that the woman had “acted in defense of others” and was justified in using deadly force.

Elizabeth Roberts had since moved out of the home in rural Greenfield that she shared with her husband.
