Henry on Pending Veto: “If Not Today, Probably Tomorrow”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): He has 10 days to decide, but a veto from Mayor Tom Henry could come sooner, rather than later, regarding ending collective bargaining for some city workers. This comes after city council re-affirmed its vote to end collective bargaining-impacting almost 600 city workers. Regarding when his veto could come, Mayor Henry told WOWO News “If not today, probably tomorrow.” Henry said “I'm going to veto it, because I think I need to let the citizens know that this was not the right thing to do, there was really no reason whatsoever to take away the rights and the benefits of our city employees who have worked so hard to make this city what it is.” Henry says our city employees are not excessively paid. If and when Henry does veto the ordinance, the council can override the Mayor's veto.
