Ind. Woman Accused of Starving 3 Cats to Death

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): A central Indiana woman faces animal neglect charges alleging that she locked three cats in a garage and allowed them to starve to death.

Twenty-six-year-old Michelle L. Jimenez of Muncie faces three preliminary counts of abandon or neglect of a vertebrate animal for her alleged actions.

Muncie Animal Shelter superintendent Phil Peckinpaugh says animal control officers found three dead cats Monday in a garage behind Jimenez's home.

He says two of the cats had started eating one of the other cats before they also died. Peckinpaugh calls the cats' deaths “a horrible act of cruelty.”
