INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana could be raising the gas tax or putting up new toll roads.

The extra funds are needed to pay for the high costs of road repairs. But a new task force met for the first time Thursday to come up with other solutions.

The committee is called “Funding Indiana’s Roads for a Stronger Safer Tomorrow” (FIRSST).

“We’re looking at national examples. What are other states doing and can we learn from that?” says task force co-chair State Representative Tim Brown.

Brown also says their goal is to put together a plan for state lawmakers early next year on how to pay for road and bridge improvements over the next 10 to 15 years.
