Indianapolis Teen Charged in Fatal Shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A 17-year-old Indianapolis boy has turned himself in to police in the fatal shooting of a Speedway man at a gas station.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the teen voluntarily surrendered to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Court records show he has been charged with murder and carrying a weapon without a license.

Indianapolis officers were called to the parking lot of a gas station on the city's northwest side just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday on reports of shots fired.

Officers found 31-year-old David Bowman, who had gone into the gas station to purchase lottery tickets, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the fatal shooting was a random act of violence.

The teen is being held without bond.
