SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana man paroled in 2010 after serving time for killing a family friend has been convicted in the fatal shootings of his brother and sister-in-law.
WSBT-TV reports that a St. Joseph County judge who presided over a 3-day bench trial found Steven Clippinger guilty Wednesday of two counts of murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The 43-year-old Clippinger was charged in the June 2012 killings of Matthew Clippinger and Lisa Clippinger at their Mishawaka home.
Clippinger testified on his own behalf Wednesday, telling the judge his girlfriend shot his brother and that he accidentally shot his sister-in-law.
Clippinger was paroled from prison in 2010 after serving 20 years of a 45-year sentence for the shooting death of a family friend.
