SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ An 18-year-old Niles, Michigan, man will serve four years in prison for fatally striking a pedestrian with his car and fleeing the scene of the accident.
Joshua Anglemyer was sentenced Monday to six years in prison, with two years suspended. He also was given a six-year probation period during which he can't drive.
The judge also requested that Anglemyer be evaluated for a work-release program or home detention.
Anglemyer pleaded guilty in August to a felony charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. A car driven by Anglemyer, then 17, struck and killed 49-year-old David Fordyce in South Bend in March while Fordyce directed traffic around the body of a man struck and killed in a separate collision.
The driver in the earlier collision wasn't charged.
