Mayor Henry unveils 2017 Fort Wayne budget

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry has announced the City’s proposed budget for 2017.

Placing a priority on public safety and neighborhood infrastructure, the proposed $158-million budget includes spending to hire 28 new police officers and almost $24-million for neighborhood road, street, and sidewalk improvement projects.

It also sets aside $7.7-million for maintenance projects at a number of City parks.

Henry says he’s seeing “momentum, investments and excitement in Fort Wayne like never before,” and this proposal is a way to keep that going.
