More Cold Coming to Northeast Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The cold is coming.

We’ll see another cold spell in Northeast Indiana. But first, meteorologist Curtis Smith of 21Alive, says we’ll get about one to three inches of snow tonight, followed by bitter cold for the next couple days.

While we aren’t expecting as much accumulation as areas on the edge of Lake Michigan, the frigid temperatures are being fueled by lake effect winds. The weather system will bring temperatures in the teens and lower with sub-zero wind chills Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday night, temperatures will drop as cold as four or five degrees below zero.

Smith says it may not be as cold as it was earlier this month, but you still need to respect the chill.

Be prepared for the worst, don't take chances. Dress in layers, and make sure you have an emergency kit for your car. You'll want to limit your time outdoors and if you do venture out, make sure you dress in layers, with all exposed skin covered.
