Go immediately to the USPS Careers site at about.usps.com/careers/, click on Indiana and you will see there are a number of Rural Carrier Associate positions open in several ZIP Codes in the Greater Indiana District.

The salary for a rural carrier associate (RCA) is $16.25 an hour plus an equipment maintenance allowance. The employee may be required to use his or her personal vehicle. However, compensation will be provided.

This is a non-career position, part-time in nature, which may lead to a career position. After one year of service, RCAs may be eligible for health insurance under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, dental and vision insurance through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program and long-term care insurance through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program.

Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of documented driving experience.

ALL applicants must apply online at http://www.usps.com/employment. Paper applications will not be accepted.

An RCA sorts mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route, loads mail in vehicle and delivers mail to customers along a prescribed route and on a regular schedule. The RCA also sells stamps, stamped paper and money orders and accepts C.O.Ds. In addition, the employee prepares mail for forwarding and maintains records of Change of Address information.

Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the Postal Service’s requirement to be drug free. Applicants must also be a U. S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident alien, or a citizen of a territory owing allegiance to the United States.
