ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (Oct. 6, 2025) — A Fort Wayne man was hospitalized Sunday following a high-speed motorcycle crash in Adams County, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash around CR 1200N near U.S. 27 on the afternoon of Oct. 5. Investigators said Tyler E. Richards, 24, was riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound when he lost control after cresting a slight hill.

Evidence at the scene indicated Richards was traveling at a high rate of speed and locked the brakes for about 50 yards before the motorcycle began to wobble and slid on its side, eventually leaving the roadway. Both the motorcycle and Richards came to rest in a grassy area near a farm field entrance, deputies said.

A passing motorist discovered the crash and called emergency responders. Richards, who was alone at the time, was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment and evaluation. His condition has not been released.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department and Southwest Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
