NEWARK, OH (WOWO) Police say a multistate crime spree began last week when Jared Dennis allegedly robbed a gas station in Newark Thursday night.

Authorities report that Dennis was located by Newark police just before 7 a.m. Friday. Officers attempted to stop him, but Dennis fled in a vehicle, prompting a brief pursuit that was ended due to safety concerns. A Granville officer also attempted to stop Dennis without success.

Flock cameras later tracked the vehicle in Franklin County, where deputies reported Dennis swerving around a school bus. Around the same time, Grove City police say a gas station on London Groveport Road was robbed. A 911 caller reported a suspect in a red hoodie threatening a cashier, though no weapon was displayed.

Authorities said Dennis’ family assisted police in locating him in Kentucky. Before being taken into custody, Dennis is accused of committing additional robberies in Kentucky. Newark Police Sgt. Clint Eskins said authorities were relieved to safely apprehend Dennis without further risk to the public or officers.

Dennis must first face charges in Kentucky. There is no word yet on when he will be returned to Ohio to face charges there.
