Muncie School Bus Gets Stuck on Flooded Street

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Firefighters helped 16 students from a Muncie school bus after it became stuck in mud along a flooded city street.

The Northside Middle School students stayed on the bus until firefighters reached them Thursday afternoon. Firefighters took two of the students to their home across the street and then ferried out the other 14 on an inflatable raft.

Fire Department Lt. Chris Spencer says the bus became stuck in mud along the street as the driver tried to navigate through water than was up to 2 feet deep after several inches of rain fell in the area.

The Delaware Community Schools north of Muncie called off classes Friday because of numerous flooded roads.
