New Glenbrook owners optimistic despite departure of anchor stores

(WOWO News)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The new owner of Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne has an uphill climb ahead of them.

Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management completed the acquisition of the mall and its parent company last month.

But the Journal Gazette reports that by the end of the year, two of the mall’s four anchor stores – Sears and Carson’s – will be no more. Brookfield CEO Brian Kingston says they’re not worried, as his company looks for so-called “value investments,” and points out that one big attraction, Chinese restaurant P.F. Chang’s, will be opening this fall.

Also, USA Today reports that some Carson’s locations might be reopening with a new owner, though it’s unclear if the Fort Wayne location will be one of them.
