Ohio Man Gets 35 Years in Indiana Predator Sting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A registered sex offender from Ohio has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for driving to Indiana to have sexual contact with a minor.

John Alan Lewis of Lima, Ohio, was convicted in August of traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, attempted production of child pornography, and transportation and possession of child pornography. Court documents say the 65-year-old drove a rented car to Plainfield, Indiana, to meet with an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. But a registered sex offender from New York was actually posing as the teen.

Police assumed the online profile of the New York man following his August 2012 arrest and continued to communicate with Lewis.

Police found child pornography on Lewis' phone when he was arrested in September 2012.
