One Dead in Steuben Crash

ASHLEY, Ind. (WOWO): One man is dead and a woman injured after a Monday afternoon crash in Steuben County.

Just after 12:30, 53-year-old Glen Matlman of Belding, Michigan was heading south on Interstate 69 near Ashley. That's when he tried to steer his semi out of the path of a car. The car lost control on an icy bridge.

Investigators say the car then struck a guardrail and spun into the path of the semi. The driver of the car, 68-year-old Marion Garrison of Fayette, OH, was killed.

A passenger in Matlman's truck, 54-year-old Lynette Maltman was taken to a local hospital with leg pain.
Police say the deceased driver was not wearing a seat belt.
