UPDATED: One person killed in Fort Wayne house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One person was killed in a house fire in Fort Wayne Wednesday evening.

Crews were called to a home on Clermont Avenue near the intersection with Wayne Trace just after 5pm and found fire coming out of the home’s front windows when they arrived. It took less than 20 minutes to bring the blaze, which was in the kitchen and family room, under control, but not before they found a body inside the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the victim’s identity has not been released.

2:31 p.m. update: The Allen County Coroner’s Office says 42 year old Sherry Glaspie was killed in the fire. The cause and manner of death are still pending. The cause of the fire is also still under investigation.
