Police Release Ages of Victims at Elkhart Grocery

ELKHART, Ind. (AP): State police have released the ages of the two women killed by a gunman inside a northern Indiana grocery store.

State police Sgt. Trent Smith says those fatally shot Wednesday night at a Martin's Super Market in Elkhart were a 20-year-old store employee and a 44-year-old woman who is believed to have been a store customer.

Smith says the 22-year-old gunman was killed by two Elkhart police officers who confronted him inside the store.

He says investigators don't believe the gunman knew the victims.

Smith says the gunman used a semi-automatic handgun to shoot the women at sites about a dozen aisles apart.

Authorities haven't yet released the names of those killed. A news conference is scheduled for later Thursday.
