Purposed U.S. 30 Business Park Meets Initial Approval

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A planned low-impact corporate park is moving closer to reality for western Fort Wayne.

City Council voted Tuesday to approve a voluntary annexation for one of three parcels of land that could become an restricted use business park just off U.S. 30. The first tract of land is about 35 acres, the entire area covers about 164.

The remaining annexation requests could be approved by the spring. Once approved it would need still need to meet legal conditions and details before the purchase is finalized.

Greg Leatherman with the Redevelopment Commission says the area would not be zoned for industrial or heavy manufacturing facilities.

The park would be near Sweetwater Sound on U.S. 30, close to Flaugh Road.

Realistically, he says, the first companies moving in are still about two years away from setting up shop.
