Woman shot during drive-by shooting

(WOWO News)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A woman is in critical condition after a drive-by shooting.

Early Saturday morning, just after 12:30 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 2300 block of E. State Street. While investigating, they were notified about a woman being dropped off at an area hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was last listed in critical condition.

Upon further investigation, police learned the woman was in a vehicle at the intersection of E. State Street and Carew Street, when gunshots were fired and she was struck. As of right now, police are uncertain if she was the intended target, or simply a bystander.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police. Meanwhile, the incident is still under investigation.
