Room and Board Costs to Go Up at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Room and board will cost incoming freshmen 2.9 percent more next fall at Ball State University.

BSU's board of trustees approved the increase. Rates will remain frozen for students who signed a contract to stay on campus for two years. About 3,600 freshmen are expected on campus during fall 2016.

School officials say housing and dining rates are based on the size of each freshman class and inflationary expenses for labor, food and other costs.

About 5,850 students lived in residence halls this past fall. The expected population next fall is 6,030. The cost of live in a double room next fall in a regular residence hall with 21 meals a week will be $10,244.
