Sheriff: Defiance County Worker killed by Driver




HICKSVILLE, Ohio (AP): Authorities say that an 87-year-old driver trying to back his vehicle up to a trash container at a refuse pickup center in Hicksville mistakenly drove forward, striking and killing a Defiance County worker.



According to the Toledo Blade, 58-year-old Peter Simonis, of Defiance, was pinned against a parked trailer by the car driven by Max Hook, of Hicksville.



Sheriff's deputies say that Simonis was flown by medical helicopter to Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., where he died. The accident was under investigation.
