COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) _ A sheriff says a man jailed on unrelated charges is the sole suspect in the shooting deaths of four people in a southern Indiana home last month.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett tells The Republic that a 55-year-old Columbus man is “the prime and only suspect” in the May 11 deaths in Waynesville, a small community a few miles from Columbus.
That man has been jailed in neighboring Brown County since May 13 on a warrant for failure to appear in court on battery charges.
No charges have been filed in the deaths of 53-year-old Katheryn Burton, her 39-year-old boyfriend and two 41-year-old men who were friends of the couple. Gorbett says investigators are being diligent in the case that he’s called drug related.
