Snow Plow Crews Ready for Winter

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As winter weather appears to be moving into the region.

And, crews that keep the highways safe and clear say they are ready.

In Allen County, crews have been preparing for weeks. They say when conditions get slick and snow accumulates, they'll have dozens of vehicles ready to keep about 3,000 miles of roads safe.

Around the state, more than 1,000 snow plows are ready to roll on more than 11,000 miles of highway.

INDOT officials say they have about 193,000 tons of salt on hand, with deliveries coming in daily.
