PERU, Ind. (WOWO) — Indiana is backing federal immigration enforcement with state-level support-approving $16 million for the Speedway Slammer, a new ICE detention facility in Peru.

The funding will boost security and house staff reassigned from other DOC locations.

The facility could hold up to 1,000 migrants prior to deportation, reinforcing Indiana’s focus on safety and rule of law.
