Steuben Co. Officers Track Footprints in Snow to Find Suspect in Stolen Vehicle Case

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Sunday morning around 3:15 A.M., Steuben County Communications got a call of a vehicle theft that had just happened on Toledo Street in Fremont. The vehicle was later found in the ditch along Feather Valley Road in the area of the Toll Road. A local resident contacted Communications and said a man was seen trying to hide along CR 100 E just South of Feather Valley Road. Officers from the Sheriff’s Department found fresh footprints in the snow that led them to 27-year-old Levi Stetler, of Ashley, who was hiding in a ditch. Levi was taken to the Steuben County Jail and booked on the following charges:

 

-Class D Felony Auto Theft

-Class A Misdemeanor Operating While Intoxicated

-Class A Misdemeanor Driving While Suspended with a prior conviction
