Storms Cause Downed Trees in SW, W. Indiana

ODON, Ind. (AP) _ The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for counties in southwest and west-central Indiana because of a slow-moving thunderstorm that is dropping heavy rain and knocking down trees.

The weather service says 3.5 inches of rain fell  in about a half hour in the Daviess County town of Odon, about 40 miles southwest of Bloomington, on Wednesday afternoon. Dispatchers in Daviess, Greene and Lawrence counties say they have received reports of downed trees because of high winds, but say they haven’t receive reports of major property damage.

There also were reports of hail in Clay County, and a flash flood warning was issued for Orange County in southern Indiana.

The new storms came a day after lighting was suspected as the cause of two central Indiana house fires.
