Strangers Provide Headstone for Indianapolis Girl

INDIANAPOLIS- The grave site for a 2-year-old Indianapolis girl that was murdered by her biological mother more than a year ago is finally getting a headstone thanks to the generosity of several strangers.

The girl, Destinee Massey, was raised by her god mother for the first year of her life but died at the hands of her mother in Nov. of 2013 after she had reclaimed care of the child.

Wally Hooker, a funeral home director and deputy coroner, and his partner in the matter Scott Young are donating the headstone.

Young is one of only a few certified stone carvers in the state. Massey‘s godmother Candance Bates says she is very thankful that Destinee will have something special to mark her grave.
