Victims of Washington County shooting identified

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The three people found dead in a home near Salem Sunday afternoon have been identified.

The Washington County Coroner says 58-year-old Danny Newlin, 41-year-old Kelley Kay Newlin, and 14-year-old Austin Newlin — a father, mother, and son — were all shot to death.

The Indiana State Police reports a “person of interest” in the case, Richard Burton, was later found dead in Monroe County. Police said Monday that Burton could be involved in the deaths, or could know something about them.

Burton’s cause of death has not yet been released. The case is still under investigation.
