RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) – The Indiana State Department of Health and the Wayne County Health Department are recommending people who may have eaten food prepared at an eastern Indiana convenience store to receive a hepatitis A vaccination by July 26 to help prevent the illness.

They say an employee at Casey’s General Store in Centerville has tested positive for hepatitis A. Anyone who consumed food prepared onsite there July 5-12 should get the vaccination.

The two agencies are working to make the vaccine available for a public clinic from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at the local health department’s multipurpose room at 201 E. Main St. in Richmond.

Hepatitis A is a viral disease that can spread through close contact with an infected person. Symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and dark urine.
