Weekend Road Closures Expected to Cause Slowdowns

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Because of ramp work and the construction of a pedestrian walkway, the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced weekend road closures for the SR 1/Dupont Road Bridge over I-69 for September 19-22 and September 26-29, weather permitting. The closures will begin on each Friday at 8 p.m., and reopen on Monday, at 6 a.m. Although the bridge will be closed, the ramps will remain open.

The official detour uses Auburn Road, Union Chapel Road and Diebold Road.

All lanes on I-69 northbound and southbound within the work zone are open and the speed limit is now back to 65 mph.

After the first weekend closure, the traffic pattern will be operating in the new diverging diamond pattern, with one lane in each direction open. After the second weekend closure, all lanes will be open for traffic, with intermittent lane closures, as some work must occur in the median.

Motorists should be aware that the traffic signals at each end of the interchange will be monitored and adjusted as needed.
