Wrestler Recovering from Spine Injury

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): A Fort Wayne high school wrestler has been moved a rehabilitation center after suffering a severe spine injury during a meet last weekend.

Homestead High School athletic director Joe Updegrove says doctors are pleased with the progress freshman wrestler Nik Gogos is showing since he was hurt Saturday during a tournament in Warsaw.

Updegrove says that Nik went backward and landed awkward where the neck and body meet at a 45-degree angle. He had surgery at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne to replace vertebrae in his back.

Updegrove says Nik's prognosis was good and that he could be going home next week.
