13 people escape early morning house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Around 3:23 a.m. on Saturday morning, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 1500 block of Pontiac Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a two story home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home.  The fire was under control in about 30 minutes.  The home sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage.

Four adults and nine children managed to escape the home with no injuries.  It is unknown, at the point, what the cause of the fire was or if there were any working smoke detectors in the home. The fire remains under investigation.
