Krakow, Poland (WOWO): About 135 pilgrims from the area are traveling to Poland for the 29th World Youth Day.

The local pilgrims include high school students, young adults, religious sisters, seminaries, priests and Bishop Kevin Rhoades. They will attend World Youth Day with Pope Francis and more than 40,000 other Americans, according to the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.

More than 2 million people from 187 countries are expected to attend a Vigil and Mass with Pope Francis. The event is from July 26 to July 31.

“We are looking forward to this trip of a lifetime,” stated Stephanie A. Patka, diocesan spokesperson. “What is so special and significant about this particular World Youth Day is that fact that we are not just going to a historic city, but one that is so rich in our Catholic history.”
