UPDATE: Crash at Lima and Progress downs power line, power outages in several areas

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) –

Updated at 3 p.m.: 

Fort Wayne police report Lima Road northbound is closed at Fernhill, and southbound at Washington Center Road as AEP works on a downed power line that resulted from the crash.

Power is not expected to be restored until midnight, and motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route.

 


 

Almost 1,000 Fort Wayne Indiana Michigan Power customers are without power after a crash at the intersection of Lima and Progress roads Tuesday.

Lima Road is closed in both directions as police work to clear the scene. Police warn residents to steer clear of the intersection for the time being.

Several traffic lights are out in the area including the following intersections:

  • Lima Road and Coliseum Boulevard
  • Coldwater Road and Washington Center Road
  • Lima Road and Ice Way
  • Lima Road and Fernhill Avenue

If approaching an intersection without power, proceed with caution, and treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Indiana Michigan Power reports power should be restored by 4 p.m.
