Coroner ID’s victim in Christmas Eve shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Allen County Coroner’s office has released the identity of the victim in a shooting on Christmas Eve.

25-year-old Javion Grandberry, from Fort Wayne, was shot in the 700 block of E. Tillman Rd. just after 3 a.m.

A few days later, Fort Wayne Police arrested 28-year-old Deondre Jones on three counts of attempted murder.

The cause of death has been determined to be complications of a gunshot wound to the head.

Grandberry’s death has officially been ruled as the 30th Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2023.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County
Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
