The man who abused Sparkle the kitten, 22-year old Matthew Jerome, will carry out a year behind bars and one year probation on charges of cruelty to an animal.

If Jerome stays out of trouble during that time and stays away from animals he may be put on work-release or home detention.

Jerome will be formally sentenced on January 14th.
