Resident, Dog Escape Plaza Drive Fire

Fort Wayne, IN (WOWO) At approximately 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, emergency crews responded to a house fire in the 3100 block of Plaza Drive after the resident reported a power outage, smoke, and visible flames.

The sole occupant safely escaped the home with their dog before firefighters arrived. Fort Wayne Fire Department Engine 11 was first on scene and quickly extinguished a fire located on the first floor. A thorough search of the home confirmed no one else was inside. Additional fire was discovered and addressed in the basement.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by Fort Wayne Allen County 911, Fort Wayne Police Department, TRAA, Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code, NIPSCO, and AEP. Their coordinated efforts helped bring the situation under control.
