Who Pays? Court to Rule on Steel Plant Clean-up

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A federal court will decide who’s responsible for cleaning up contamination caused by the steel mill on Taylor Street. It’s been owned by Joslyn, Slater and now parent company Valbruna.  According to the Journal-Gazette the property has been subjected to numerous hazardous material since it opened in 1928. It also produced uranium rods as part of the project that built the atomic bomb.  Valbruna says they didn’t make the mess, but it is their job to contain it and the original owners, Joslyn should foot the bill for clean up. Joslyn says the statute of limitation has expired.
