Former Mayor of Decatur Dies at 83

DECATUR, Ind. (AP) – Residents of the northeastern Indiana city of Decatur are mourning the death of former Mayor Harold Miller.

A funeral home says Miller died Wednesday at the age of 83. Miller was mayor of the city from 1976 to 1988 and also owned Miller's Meat Market until 1993.

Fred Isch succeeded Miller as mayor of the city about 20 miles southeast of Fort Wayne. Isch tells the Decatur Daily Democrat  that Miller was well liked and was “a people's mayor.”

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with his funeral set for Sunday.
