ANDERSON, IND. (WOWO) A man was taken into custody following a Sunday morning shooting at an apartment complex in Anderson that left another man hospitalized with a gunshot wound, according to police.

Shooting reported at apartment complex

Anderson Police Department officers were initially called Sunday morning to a local hospital after a 27-year-old man arrived with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators say the shooting is believed to have occurred earlier at an apartment complex in the 3600 block of Oaklawn Drive.

Police said the incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Victim taken to hospital

According to Fox 59, the injured man’s wounds are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Medical staff treated the victim after he arrived at the hospital, and police later began tracing the origin of the shooting back to the apartment complex.

Investigation leads to detention

During the investigation, officers responded to the apartment complex and located a second 27-year-old man at the residence where the shooting is believed to have occurred.

That individual was detained without incident in connection with the investigation, according to police.

Authorities have not announced formal charges at this time.

Case under review by prosecutors

The Anderson Police Department said the case has been submitted to the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Investigators with the department’s criminal investigations division are continuing to gather evidence and interview individuals connected to the incident.
