AG’s Office on Pace to Break Record Amount of Unclaimed Property Returned to Owners

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Come December, Attorney General Greg Zoller expects to beat the record amount of unclaimed property returned to owners.

According to officials with the Attorney General’s office, millions of dollars are being claimed through the Attorney General’s unclaimed property division each month, putting them on track to surpass the previous record of claims paid, but Zoller needs your help to get over the hump.

In 2006, $53.9 million of unclaimed property was returned to its rightful owners and that is where the record stands.  So far, this year, the office has returned $53.2 million, just shy of the record.

“I am asking for everyone’s help in breaking this record so we can set a new goal to exceed next year,” Zoeller said.  “Plus, the end of the year is a great time to find an unexpected windfall of money.”

There is over $23 million still waiting to be found, therefore, Zoeller is  encouraging everyone to visit  https://indianaunclaimed.gov to search for their names or their relatives’, neighbors’ and friends’ names.
