Investigation Into Grocery Shootings Completed

ELKHART, Ind. (AP): A northern Indiana prosecutor is set to announce the findings of a state police investigation into the fatal shooting by police officers of a gunman who had shot and killed a grocery store shopper and an employee there.

Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill Jr. has scheduled a Thursday news conference to discuss the investigation into the Jan. 15 attack at a Martin's Super Market in Elkhart.

Authorities say Shawn Walter Bair had already killed the two women and was threatening to kill a store manager when two Elkhart police officers entered the store and distracted Bair, sending the manager running.

Police say Bair was killed by the officers after he confronted them.

The officers were honored last month by the General Assembly and Gov. Mike Pence for their bravery.
